Blog Entry #4 - Obsession

Hello RW3D!

Welcome to week 6 of the program!  Congratulations!

We have been studying Unit 3 - Going to Extremes: Sports and Obsession, which included an article about Tony Hawk, a famous skateboarder who was the first to land a "900".  Tony Hawk was obsessed about perfecting that trick, and he worked on that trick for 13 years until he was able to do it.  Do you think that having an obsession is a good or bad thing? Explain using specific details and examples.

Novel Proposal - Blog Entry #3

Hello Folks!

I trust that everyone had a nice looooong weekend :)  If you did something exciting, or went somewhere amazing and want to share with us, please tell us about your May Long adventures.  This is a chance for you to post some pictures as well!

This week, we will be choosing a novel to read for our literature circle.  In the blog entry for this week, write about the novel that you want to read this semester.  Why do you want to read that novel?  Do you like reading?  Have you ever read a book in English before?

Just to clarify, for your entry you should write about your novel choice.  IF you have any good stories from the long weekend you have the option to add that information to this entry as wel.l

Cheers!

Julie

Fraud (Post #2)

In Unit 2, we are looking at different kinds of fraud: impersonation, check fraud, identify theft, and selling fake products.

Write about an experience that you have had with fraud, or someone you know that has had an expereince with fraud.    Describe the experience.

___________________________________________________________________________________

When I first moved back to Canada, I was ALMOST the victim of fraud.  I had been looking for an apartment to rent downtown on Kijiji, when I found a place that was perfect (and very cheap).  I emailed the rental manager and waited to hear back from them.  When they emailed me back, they told me that I needed to register my information on a website so that they could deliver the keys to me from overseas.  It was very fishy.  I looked at the website, it was full of spelling mistakes and was asking for me to send them my personal information, as well as my credit card inofrmation!!!!!  I did not give them any information or money because I realized it was a fraudulent offer.  I was very sad and hurt that someone tried to rip me off.  I am very careful now when giving out my information online.
